How does phraseology validation work?

Wilco analyzes your radio calls against ICAO standard phraseology in real-time. You receive instant feedback highlighting correct usage, common mistakes, and suggestions for improvement. The AI ATC also responds realistically based on what you say.

flight_takeoff Training Scenarios

view_list How are the 20 scenarios organized?

Scenarios are grouped into four categories: Taxi (ground movement, ATIS, clearance delivery), Departure (takeoff clearance, initial climb), En-Route (frequency changes, position reports, flight following), and Approach (pattern entry, landing clearance, go-arounds). Each category has 5 scenarios of increasing complexity.

shuffle Can I choose which scenario to practice?

Yes. You can select any scenario at any time regardless of your progress. However, we recommend starting with the Taxi category at Student difficulty and progressing through Departure, En-Route, and Approach as your confidence builds.

replay Can I repeat a scenario?

Absolutely. Scenarios can be repeated as many times as you like. Each session uses live METAR/TAF data, so conditions and ATC responses vary naturally between sessions even on the same scenario.

mic Voice & Audio

settings_voice How do I set up my microphone?

When you start your first session, your browser will ask for microphone permission. Grant access and select your preferred microphone from the audio settings. Use a headset for the most realistic experience.

volume_up What powers the ATC voice?

ATC responses are generated using ElevenLabs text-to-speech for realistic, natural-sounding ATC voices. Your voice input is processed using the Web Speech API for real-time speech recognition.

keyboard Can I type instead of using voice?

Yes. Every scenario supports text input as an alternative to voice. You can type your radio calls and the AI ATC will respond the same way. Voice mode is recommended for the most realistic practice.

help Frequently Asked Questions

laptop_chromebook Which browsers are supported?

Wilco works best on Chrome and Edge, which have the most robust Web Speech API support. Safari and Firefox are supported for text input mode but may have limited voice recognition capabilities.

spellcheck How strict is the ICAO validation?

Validation strictness scales with difficulty level. At Student level, the system accepts common variations and provides gentle corrections. At Private Pilot level, standard ICAO phraseology is expected. At Advanced level, precise phraseology, correct readback, and proper call sign usage are required.

cloud Does Wilco use real weather data?

Yes. Wilco pulls live METAR (current conditions) and TAF (forecasts) data for the airports used in each scenario. This means every training session reflects actual weather conditions, making practice more realistic and varied.

monitoring How does progress tracking work?

Wilco tracks your accuracy, response time, and phraseology scores for each scenario and difficulty level. Performance charts show your improvement trends over time so you can see which areas need more practice.

view_list How do I choose which scenario to practice?

From the main screen, browse scenarios by category (Taxi, Departure, En-Route, Approach) or difficulty level. Each scenario card shows a description, estimated duration, and your best score if you have completed it before.

payments Is Wilco free?

Yes. Wilco is free to use with all 20 scenarios and all difficulty levels available at no cost.
