ACL Solutions LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the DayByDay mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use DayByDay. - Display entries on trip maps using location data
- Send daily writing prompts and streak reminder notifications
- Improve App performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
- Provide customer support
3. Data Sensitivity and Journal Encryption
We recognize that journal entries are among the most personal data a person creates. We treat journal data with extra care:
- Encryption at rest: All journal entries are encrypted when stored on our servers using AES-256 encryption
- Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses TLS 1.3 encryption
- Private by default: Every journal entry is private until you explicitly choose to share it
- Access controls: Only you can access your private entries. Shared entries are only visible to the specific users you select
- Employee access: Our employees do not read your journal entries. Access to user data is restricted to what is necessary for technical operations and requires authorization
4. Third-Party Services
DayByDay uses the following third-party services:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Hosts our application infrastructure, databases, and file storage. Journal entries, photos, and account data are stored on AWS servers. See AWS Privacy Policy.
- AWS Cognito: Manages user authentication and account security. Your email and login credentials are processed by Cognito. See AWS Cognito documentation.
- Apple MapKit: Powers the trip map visualization feature. Location data is sent to Apple's MapKit service to render maps. See Apple Privacy Policy.
We do not share your journal content with these providers beyond what is necessary to deliver the App's functionality.
5. Data Security
We implement robust security measures to protect your personal journal data:
- AES-256 encryption for journal entries at rest
- TLS 1.3 encryption for all data in transit
- Secure authentication via AWS Cognito with support for multi-factor authentication
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Role-based access controls for our internal systems
- Automated backups with encrypted storage
- Photos stored in encrypted S3 buckets with access limited to authenticated users
6. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Active accounts: Your journal entries, photos, and account data are retained for as long as your account is active
- Deleted entries: When you delete a journal entry, it is permanently removed from our servers within 7 days
- Deleted accounts: When you delete your account, all personal data and journal content is permanently removed within 30 days
- Anonymized analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely to improve the App

We do not sell your data. We do not share your journal entries, photos, or personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share information only:
- With service providers who help operate the App (as described in Section 4)
